Scott Kelly was born March 25, 1958 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He graduated in 1987 from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. He has worked as an independent artist for 20 years, including mural commissions and independent exhibits in Calgary.

He also works in the music industry as a singer-song writer, and is the producer of Immaculate Heart Radio which is heard Saturdays at 9:00 pm on AM 1140 radio, covering Southern Alberta. Scott currently resides in Calgary with his wife Deborah and two children Eric and Hannah.
